Just as Ted's books Chord Chemistry (review) and Modern Chord Progressions (review), this is chock full of material. Volume 1 starts out with the fundamentals of scales, intervals, and chords, then proceeds through each type in turn: major, dominant, minor, and altered dominant. Each of these sections includes many, many short examples of runs built for that chord type. Interspersed with that material - sometimes in its own section, sometimes just wound into the text - you'll also learn phrasing, decoration (slides, slurs, etc.), position playing, and ear training... and receive Ted's advice on memorizing runs. Volume 2 of this set may be out of print... it covers the m7b5, diminished 7ths, much more on altered dominants and the use of whole tone scales, plus more on phrasing and decoration.
