Augmented chords
Augmented chords are symmetrical - an augmented chord, 1-3-#5, is made up of three notes each a major third apart, and moving up another major third from #5 brings you back to the enharmonic equivalent of 1 (C-E-G# is C augmented; up a major third from G# is B#, which is enharmonic to C). As a result, any of the notes in an augmented chord may be considered the root - C-E-G# = E-G#-B# = Ab-C-E.Augmented chords:
