Open position guitar chords
These are the basic chords, the ones beginners should concentrate on. Learning these by rote is probably the best way to go in the beginning - once you've gotten into
barre chords, you'll be ready to start thinking about these chords as individual notes.
The notes shown in squares are the 'key notes' - the ones that give the chord its name. For an A chord, the A notes are squares. Knowing where these notes are in chords can help you learn the fingerboard.
